Q: I have a chest pain just below the sternum usually in the morning upon awakening. It is not aggravated with exercise or exertion. Pushing on this area increases the discomfort. Is this my heart?

A: These symptoms sound more G.I. (Gastrointestinal) or stomach related. Sometimes gastric fluid can build up and cause a “reflux” or backwash of stomach fluids into the esophagus. This very often can mimic chest pain. Another common cause of G.I. chest pain is Hiatal Hernia.
