Cardiac Rehabilitation

The physicians of Red Oak Cardiovascular Center strongly believe in the benefits of Cardiac Rehabilitation. In an effort to provide the most comprehensive care, our services include a complete Cardiac Rehab/Fitness Program for our patients. The program is flexible and tailored to meet the individual needs of each patient.

We are here to help our patients learn the skills needed to make the transition from a cardiac problem to resuming a normal heart-healthy lifestyle.

Educating Mind and Body

Phase I begins in the hospital with discharge and activity guidelines for the interim between the hospital stay and phase II.

Phase II is a twelve week/36 program with a variety of class times to help meet the busiest schedule.

The course includes:

Medically supervised and EKG monitored exercise training instructed by an RN and an exercise physiologist. Diet management and counseling by a registered dietitian.

Daily mini-lectures on topics affecting your recovery.

Stress management courses to help deal with the emotional aspects of recovery and daily stressors.

Complimentary Smoking Cessation Course and CPR Course.

Monthly reports from your care team to update you and your physician on your progress.

A concise individual discharge plan when you have completed the course (Phase II) or an opportunity to continue with us in our maintenance program (Phase III).

A spousal program to give your significant other the opportunity to share in your exciting new heart healthy life style.

Getting Started

As soon as it is appropriate following a heart attack, bypass surgery, or angioplasty, your doctor will refer you to Rehab.

Following a prescribed regime along with others who have similar health problems provides the support and encouragement so important in sticking to the program.

We would be delighted to give you a tour of our facility and encourage you to talk with our Rehab patients about the program.
